We often hear the advice: “Fix your weaknesses to become complete.”
It sounds reasonable. But if you spend all your energy patching holes while neglecting where you truly shine, is that really the right path?
In reality, there are two typical scenarios that most of us go through:
Scenario 1: Work = Weakness + Effort
You step into life with uncertainty:
- You don’t really know your strengths.
- You see the crowd rushing into “hot” careers and follow blindly.
- You accidentally choose the wrong playing field.
And then what happens?
- You take on jobs that don’t fit your nature, forcing yourself day after day.
- When you fail, you start doubting your own abilities.
- You throw yourself into fixing weaknesses as if that’s the only way to survive.
- But the more you fix, the more drained you become.
Eventually, your energy runs dry, your passion fades, and you fall into burnout—mental and physical exhaustion.
🌀This is the vicious cycle so many people are trapped in, without realizing that the root problem is not a lack of effort, but a wrong direction from the very start.
Scenario 2: Work = Strength + Effort
On the other hand, when you pause and ask yourself:
- What do I naturally do well, while others struggle?
- What makes me so absorbed that I lose track of time?
You start to discover your unique strengths. And everything changes:
- You choose the right playing field—where your talents are welcomed.
- Work becomes an extension of yourself, not a burden.
- You unleash exceptional performance, creating unique value.
- Your energy and inspiration are sustained for the long run, instead of burning out in forced effort.
When you work from strengths, every drop of sweat doesn’t just fill a gap—it multiplies your potential.
The Awakening Message
If you feel exhausted, it may not be because you’re lazy.
It may not be because you don’t work hard enough.
It’s because you’re fighting on the wrong battlefield.
Remember:
- Working from weakness only helps you survive for a while.
- Working from strength allows you to fly for a lifetime.
Don’t ask: “How do I fix my weaknesses?”
Ask: “Where am I strong, and which playing field belongs to me?”
Life doesn’t reward those who are good at being average copies.
Life honors those who dare to live as the best version of themselves.
Practical Tools: How to Discover Your Unique Strengths
Keep a Flow Journal
- For 7 days, write down tasks where:
- Time flies without you noticing.
- You find them easier than most people.
- You feel confident and energized.
- These are clues to your strengths.
Ask 5 Close People
- Question: “In your opinion, what do I do best?”
- You’ll be surprised at the recurring answers.
Use Scientific Assessments
- Suggested tools:
- Gallup CliftonStrengths (discover 34 talent themes).
- MBTI or Big Five (understand your work style).
- VIA Character Strengths (identify core character strengths).
Analyze Past Successes
- Ask yourself: “In the last 5 years, which achievement makes me most proud?”
- That achievement is usually built on your core strengths.
Experiment – Fail – Learn
- Don’t wait until you fully “understand yourself” to take action.
- Every work experience is a real-life test that helps you eliminate what doesn’t fit and move closer to what does.
