Odoo is often referred to as the black sheep of the ERP industry. With its vision of disrupting and reinventing the way businesses manage their operations, this open-source software has managed to carve out a niche for itself among larger, more established players in the market.

Like every system, there are some considerations that an orgnaization should consider when evaluating Odoo.

While open-source ecosystems provide businesses the flexibility to customize the software to fit their specific needs, it also requires a certain level of technical expertise to do so. Additionally, because Odoo is constantly evolving, businesses need to be prepared to keep up with the latest changes to take full advantage of the software.

We often see our clients become enchanted by no or low code solutions, focused on non-technical users. It's important to understand that Odoo cannot replace internal IT competencies. Organizations need to build out roles to manage and maintain these systems and integrations across the business.

Additionally, because Odoo is less established than some of the other ERP solutions on the market, it may lack certain localized support. It can be difficult to source consultants or advisor in your marketplace that has experience in implementing Odoo.

Odoo may not be the right fit for every business. However, for businesses that are looking for a flexible, cost-effective, and easy-to-use ERP solution, Odoo is worth considering.

Effective software evaluation and selection processes will surface any gaps or requirements that Odoo cannot fulfill.
